location on North Coast Hwy 101 in Leucadia since 1963. (The
curious address is above the door) They specialize in old
radios, advertising, jukeboxes and slot machines and have
strange hours. Their card quotes one customer's line: “The
most bueno stuff in the universe”. The mysterious and
world famous “Strange Thing” can also be viewed
whenever they're open for only a quarter. (You'll be told

2. ABC Trading Company
Nestled in the cathedral of ancient Eucalyptus trees on Norht
Coast Hwy 101 in Leucadia (the beloved step-child community
of Encinitas) ABC Trading Company (right next to the Strange
Thing at Caldwell's Antiques) is usually open and sell vintage
vynil records, larger than life statues of things like the
Blues Bros., Betty Boop, Marilyn Monroe - you name it. At
the door you will be greeted with: "All prices are negotiable...
the rents' due!" So don't forget your checkbook. Today the
building is bright yellow. Tomorrow?
Originally across the street from the Derby house. Fred F. Perris drew plans for the Encinitas station and an identical one in Carlsbad. The colors of the original station were referred to as Catsup, Mustard, and Pickle Relish,
In 1975 the station was slated to be demolished. Jim Bowen of Cardiff rescured the ill fated railroad station moved it to Leucadia and restored it with architect John Henderson's help.
The Panniken / Encinitas Train Depot is one of the most important rail and historical structures in all of San Diego County.
Stop in, sip the coffee, enjoy the eucalyptus tree lined Hwy 101 and if you're a rail-fan catch a glimpse of the activity on America's second busiest rail corridor.
